“We the people of Dallas call for a more civilized tone in our local elections where candidates and groups put aside the negative personal attacks found in Washington based campaigns and focus more on providing us the facts so we can make informed decisions.
Last year our country saw an unprecedented barrage of campaign ads — over $1 billion worth — and a large portion of those dollars were spent on negative ads.
And this year?
Interest groups based in Washington have already spent over $270 million attacking their opponents and trying to influence the agenda in Washington.
In Dallas, we say enough is enough.
Enough… we don’t need — or want — the Washington-scorched earth “issue” campaigns that suffocate the airwaves.
Enough… of one individual spending millions of dollars to push an agenda by launching a series of vitriolic attacks against those that oppose him and his agenda.
Enough… of these Washington style personal attacks substituting for substantive debate on the issues facing our community.
